I started the MOVE! program because I was tired of being so fat. I am a professional drummer and wanted to have more strength and endurance for drumming. I was short winded and embarrassed from breaking chairs. I also wanted to look good and start dating. First, I began eating smaller, half portions and ate more fruits, veggies and whole wheat breads and grains. I began eating more often to speed up my metabolism. I increased my physical activity by walking 1 block and now I am happy to say I am walking 3 miles in about 43 minutes. I also added Calisthenics, working out 4 hours per day. The MOVE! program increased my knowledge, and provided support and motivation. The staff are very supportive.

Thank you, Truly, John J. Hoh

Mr. Charles Howe

Mr. Howe claims the MOVE program is the reason he has been able to lose 22 pounds since September 2012.  I’ve made some feeble attempts in the past, but this time because of the MOVE program, I’ve been able to stick with it. I look better and feel better. “  He attended the initial MOVE 101 class and all 8 of the follow-u- classes. His greatest motivator was general health and longevity “My dad lived to be 100 years old and I’d like to be up there up in that category.” He plans to keep the lost weight off by continuing to eat well and exercise: “I eat a lot of fruits and vegetables. I have been drinking more water, and usually walk or bike at least four days a week.” His advice to others trying to lose weight is to exercise regularly and listen to your body.  “Eat the right kind of foods and not too much, listen to your body -when your body says it is full, stop eating.  My biggest obstacle is trying to eat slowly. I do yoga breathing and exercises and these help me slow my eating pace”.  The MOVE program provided him with lessons that are important to living a healthy lifestyle. “MOVE provided me with basic weight loss information and kept me on track.”

Mr. Richard Snell

Mr. Snell claims the MOVE program helped him lose 31 pounds in just four months. "I participated in the MOVE! Program in 2008 because I wanted to be healthier.  The program provided excellent guidance and support.  By attending the classes on a regular basis, my wife and I learned how and what to do to safely and successfully lose weight.  We kept detailed food logs and increased our physical activity. I lost 31 pounds over four months.   However, when I reached my Goal Weight, I stopped keeping my food logs on a regular basis and started skipping my daily walks here and there.  I gained the pounds back until January of 2013, when I decided to pull out the information that we received in 2008 from the MOVE classes. Again, my wife and I gradually started making changes to turn things around.  I started walking again gradually working up to an hour every day.   I lost the weight I had regained.  This time my medications had to be adjusted which caused me to be uncomfortable.  I worked with my doctor using My Health Buddy to get things straightened out.   My wife and I learned the hard way how important physical activity and self-monitoring are.  We will keep our daily food and activity log because when we stopped we gained the weight back. I recommend the MOVE Program to anyone wanting to lose some weight and learn to live healthier.  The caring personnel and materials were invaluable to my weight loss.  I think it is important to adopt a healthier lifestyle: eat healthy and stay as active as possible.  You have to be consistent. After weight loss, learning to keep it off is important.  To get healthy recipes and meal ideas, I participate in monthly the Healthy Cooking class. This keeps my wife and I from getting burned out on eating the same foods."
