With recent success in community outreach events such as the "Walk to end Alzheimer’s" and the "7th annual Stand Down for Veterans" held at the Harley Davidson convention center, the Marion VA staff and outreach team will continue to engage in community activities through the Fall season and Winter Season.

“It isn’t enough for us to expect the Veterans to always come to us” says Beth Lamb, Marion Public Affairs Officer.  “We have worked diligently this past year to build new relationships with our local community and get out into the community where our Veterans like to associate.”

On Valentines Day, our inpatient Veterans were visited by their little friends to let them know they are not alone.

Fostering a positive image where the community knows they can reach out and rely on the Marion VA Medical Center is paramount to our success in healing our returning Veterans.  Each season brings the Medical Center new opportunities to get out and connect with our fellow Veterans and their varied interests.

Health Administration Specialist, Patrick Norris says that “our outreach events this year have been tremendous.  We have worked with the Roller Derby community, the Evansville, Indiana Universities, as well as the Southern Illinois University to help inform our younger Veteran population about their benefits”.

If you have missed any of the Marion VA’s outreach events or community sponsored Veteran events this year and are wondering where you can meet up with fellow Veterans in the following weeks, below is a list of Veteran friendly events.  If you would like to receive updates about upcoming events, please follow us on Facebook, or if you have any questions about our services, please visit our website at
