Whether you're looking for innovative health tips or expert opinions from top physicians, Marion VA Medical Center can help. The Office of Public Affairs provides support and assistance to members of the news media and community organizations with regards to the following:
- Responding to media queries
- Providing subject matter experts
- Scheduling and coordinating interviews
- Providing fact sheets and statistical information
- Providing facility images and official logos
- Providing information about VA-related outreach and events
Towards that end, we make every attempt to assist news media in their newsgathering. Our top priority, however, is protecting the privacy and security of the patients’ we serve.
Setting Up Media Interviews
Contact the Public Affairs Officer if you are interested in locating a VA official or subject matter expert for a story. Patients must agree to be interviewed, videotaped or photographed by signing a consent form.
Visiting Our Facilities
We strictly adhere to federal guidelines regarding patient privacy as outlined by the 1996 Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA). To protect a patients’ privacy, we require all reporters, film crews and photographers visiting our facilities to be escorted by a public affairs staff member. All filming and photography taken at any VA medical center site must be approved in advance by the Office of Public Affairs.
